A division of the County of Maui's Department of Housing
and Human Concerns, Kaunoa Senior Services provides opportunities for seniors
to learn and grow through a variety of ongoing programs throughout the County.
The mission of Kaunoa is:
"To continuously create those special and exceptional experiences and opportunities which will help make the retirement years of the elderly the best years."

Assisted Transportation/Outreach
For the frail, isolated elderly who is unable to utilize or does not have access to other forms of transportation, Kaunoa's Assisted Transportation/Outreach Program provides one-on-one escort services to conduct daily living activities such as shopping, banking, going to the doctor, etc. This allows the elderly to maintain their independent living capacity.

Congregate Dining Program
The Congregate Meal Service provides a nutritionally balanced meal for seniors 60 years and older in an atmosphere which encourages rewarding experiences and socialization . Congregate meal sites located in various locations throughout the County are known to be a place where seniors can gather for "more than just a meal".

Leisure Program
An exciting and varied selection of arts and crafts, cultural, exercise and wellness, performing arts, and other interesting and fun filled classes, seminars, and activities are offered through Kaunoa's Leisure Program for the "young at heart" senior.

Meals On Wheels
Kaunoa's Meals on Wheels Program delivers hot, nutritious midday meals to seniors who are homebound and unable to manage their own meal preparation. The home-delivered meals are critical in helping the home-bound senior to continue living independently in their own homes.

Retired Senior Volunteer Program
For the senior who is still "too young" to retire, RSVP is a "win win" opportunity which allows the community to continue benefitting from the retired senior volunteer's expertise and services while providing opportunities for the senior volunteer to remain active in community life. Senior volunteers are matched with qualified agencies according to their interests or areas of expertise.

Senior Companion Program
Kaunoa's Senior Companion Program operates on the philosophy of empowering seniors to help themselves wherever possible. Senior companions volunteer to assist other seniors who are unable to perform daily living activities such as shopping, banking, and other errands. The senior volunteers also provide companionship to the homebound seniors, providing an important link to the community.
