REQUEST FOR PROPOSALS
TO DESIGN / BUILD A STEEL BUILDING
FOR THE COUNTY OF MAUI'S
RECYCLING MATERIALS RECOVERY FACILITY (MRF)
JOB NO. 03-04/P70
The RFP may be obtained at the Division of Purchasing, Department of Finance, located on the sixth floor of the County
Building, 200 South High Street, Wailuku, HI 96793. Proposals must be received at the same location by the Proposer, no
later than 4:00 p.m. on Monday, May 24, 2004. Proposals mailed and postmarked earlier than the date and time specified
but received later shall be rejected.
The work shall generally consist of the design and construction of a steel building to be used as a Recycling Materials
Recovery Facility (MRF). All prospective Proposers shall possess a "B" General Building Contractor's License with the
appropriate Subcontractor(s) licenses held in the State of Hawaii. Proposers must be qualified in compliance with Chapter
103D of the Hawaii Revised Statutes.
A mandatory pre-proposal meeting will be held on Monday, May 10, 2004, 9 a.m. in the Planning Conference Room.
Proposers must make arrangements to inspect the building site before this meeting by calling Hana Steel, PHD, County
Recycling Coordinator at 808-270-7847.
A written notice of Intention to Bid must be submitted to the Director of Finance, County of Maui, no later the 4:30 p.m. on
Friday, May 14, 2004.
No proposal will be considered unless accompanied by one of the following forms of Proposers security; cash, a cashier's
check or certified check drawn on a bank insured by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, or a Proposer's bond
executed by an approved surety insurer, made payable to the Director of Finance in the manner, form, and amount required
by Section 103D-323, Hawaii Revised Statutes. The proposal guaranty shall be equal to five percent (5%) of the total
amount of the cost submitted.
The chosen Proposer will be required to post a performance bond equal to 100% of the proposed cost of this project.
