Drop Off Center Recycling Guidelines
Overview
Refer to these guidelines for residential recycling at County Recycle Drop Off Centers. Please remove recyclables from the container you brought them in.

 Items   Save  Prepare  Not Recyclable
Glass Containers Jars, bottles and containers of all sizes. Redeem HI5 beverage bottles for 5 cents. Remove ALL food residue. Discard lids and corks. Rinse clean. No need to remove labels. NO: Ceramics light bulbs, fluorescents, headlights, windshields, window glass.
Aluminum & Metal Cans Aluminum, steel (BI-Metal) & tin cans. Redeem HI5 beverage cans for 5 cents. Remove ALL food residue. Discard lids. Rinse clean. No need to remove labels. NO: Aerosol or paint cans, scrap metals, window frames, aluminum lawn furniture, etc.
#1 and #2 Plastic Containers Plastic containers, #1 and #2 only.
Redeem HI5 beverage bottles for 5 cents.
Remove ALL food residue. Discard caps. NO: Styrofoam, packing peanuts, shrink wrap, toys, 5-gallon buckets, motor oil containers.
Newspaper Newspapers, including the inserts that come with the paper. Remove rubber bands, plastic wrap & string. Do not tie in a bundle. NO: Phone books magazines, mixed paper, "junk" mail, office paper, shredded paper, books.
Cardboard & Paper Bags Corrugated boxes, boxboard (such as cereal boxes, shoe boxes), paper egg cartons, cardboard rolls; paper bags, all colors, all sizes. PLEASE KOKUA: Break down, cut or flatten every size of box. Remove plastic liner from cereal boxes, etc. NO: Food residue, Styrofoam or other packing materials,
unflattened boxes, milk or juice cartons, wax-coated cardboard.

Report illegal dumping. Illegal dumping is unsightly and may be dangerous to public health and safety. Report it to the Maui Police Department, (808) 244-6400, or to the State of Hawaii Department of Health at (808) 984-8230.
