About the MCBRC

MCBRC's Partners

The Maui County Business Resource Center (MCBRC) is an extension project of the County of Maui's Office of Economic Development (OED). The MCBRC serves as an entrepreneurial resource for new or existing business owners who need business assistance for operations within Maui County. The Center was established to improve public access to government resources and increase the reach of non-profit partners that provide business assistance and consultation.

County of Maui Office of Economic Development
The Office of Economic Development, an extension of the Mayor's Office, works as partners with the community, other government agencies and businesses to strengthen and diversify the economy. The office of the Small Business Advocate will operate the OED extension at the MCBRC. Interested individuals can receive general business information concerning start-up, licensing, government programs and use of the MCBRC facilities.

MEO Business Development Corporation
MEO Business Development Corporation (BDC) helps low-income entrepreneurs start and expand their businesses through offering education, technical assistance and micro-loan funding to individuals who do not have access to traditional lending.

Hawaii Business Research Library
The HBRL provides businesses, entrepreneurs and students with on-line data analysis, trademark, copyright, industry, market and grant research.

Business Action Center
The Business Action Center (BAC) is a branch of the State of Hawaii Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs' Business Registration Division, specializing in personalized assistance with registering a business in Hawaii, obtaining various tax licenses, registering as an employer, and information on other required permits. The BAC is based in Honolulu and has expanded its services to Maui County.

SCORE
SCORE is a nonprofit association dedicated to entrepreneur education and business consultation through its nationwide network of retired and working volunteers. Use the Request for Counseling form to schedule an appointment with SCORE.

Part of Hawaii's Small Business Development Center Network, the only state-wide business assistance organization in Hawaii. Its purpose is to help small businesses and new ventures succeed and expand. Hawaii Small Business Development Center-Maui provides free, one-on-one, confidential counseling to both established businesses and start-up businesses. They cover a wide range of topics including:

  • Business idea/opportunity assessment
  • General start-up advise
  • Sources of financing including banks, SBA Loans, community funds, bootstrapping, SBIR grants, angel and venture capital
