COVID-19 Precautionary Measures

The County of Maui announces that the Division of Motor Vehicles and Licensing will be closed to the public, effective Monday, March 23, 2020.


The Motor Vehicle and Licensing Division provides direct service to the citizens of Maui County by issuing new and renewal licenses, motor vehicle registrations, various county business licenses, disabled parking placards, taxi driver permits, dog licenses and bicycle licenses. This division also administers commercial driver licenses, periodic motor vehicle inspections, and the issuance of disabled person's parking placards on behalf of the State of Hawaii.

Effective January 1, 2017, the Division of Motor Vehicles & Licensing (DMVL) reminds Moped owners of Act 200 of the Hawaii Session Law 2016 will require significant changes to Moped registration throughout the State of Hawaii.

  • Make an appointment at our Kahului Service Center, one (1) person per appointment.
    The available services are Driver Licenses or Hawaii State ID’s and Initial Disability Placards.
