Who will provide the health care services?
Performing the services listed above will be more than 350 soldiers, sailors, airmen, and Marines including doctors, nurses, pharmacists, ophthalmologists, dentists and others from active and reserved ranks of the armed forces around the United States. The military personnel will be participating in this “hands-on readiness training to prepare for future deployments while providing direct and lasting benefits to the people of Maui, Molokai, and Lanai at no cost.

Maui County was selected as the designated location for this free program after Mayor Arakawa signed an official request to the U.S. Department of Defense in 2011. Tropic Care Maui County is a partnership between the County of Maui / Office of the Mayor, the State Department of Health and the Innovative Readiness Training Program of the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Reserve Affairs.

Who may participate?
The free clinics will be open to the general public. Identification will not be required, and no fees will be charged.

How will the clinics be run?
The clinics will serve as a rapid deployment military exercise for personnel who respond to post-disaster locations to support the affected population. Thus, individuals will be seen on a first-come, first-served basis; advance appointments will NOT be taken.

How long will I have to wait?
Wait-times will depend on the number of people who attend the clinic that day. Please come prepared to wait in line with any needed essentials such as water, and a folding chair and umbrella for shade at some locations.

Can I get a Doctor's note at the clinic?
Anyone needing documentation of the health care services they receive must bring their own forms or other paperwork; no forms will be provided.

Are volunteers needed?
Yes! We are currently seeking volunteers to provide support at each clinic on all islands. Volunteers are needed to greet, provide information and keep an eye on things. For those willing and able to volunteer their time at any of the 6 locations, please click on the following link to volunteer:
