10th Annual Water Conservation Poster Contest
3rd Annual Source Water Protection Video Contest

Calling all Maui County Students!

The Department of Water Supply is currently holding its 10th Annual Water Conservation Poster Contest open to Maui County students from grades K through 8, and 3rd Annual Source Water Protection Video Contest for high school students in public, private and home-schools. The contests are designed to encourage young artists to express their own ideas in relation to this year's contest theme.  We invite students to use their artistic talents to celebrate drinking water and to promote water conservation.

Poster Contest

“CONSERVING WATER, STARTS WITH... YOU” is this year’s poster contest theme.  Roughly 72% of the earth is covered in water, but only about 2.5% of that is freshwater.  Of that 2.5%, less than one percent (.03%) of all freshwater is available to us.  As our population grows, our increasing demand for water even through periods of drought makes it very important that we all do our part to conserve water.

Winning entries will be featured in the Department of Water Supply’s Water Conservation Calendar for 2020.

Video Contest

The Source Water Protection Video Contest is open to Maui County High School students (Grades 9-12).  The purpose of this contest is to provide our youth with an opportunity to learn about source water protection and to utilize their creative talents to produce a video showcasing the importance of protecting our ground and surface water sources, which our residents and visitors depend on for drinking water and other important uses.

“CLEAN WATER, IT’S IN YOUR HANDS” is the video contest theme. Protecting source water from contamination reduces risks to public health from exposure to contaminated water, minimizes potentially negative environmental impacts on our natural resources, as well as reduces water treatment costs.

Entry forms and contest rules and guidelines are available below.
