Estimated Funds Available - $100,000 (Subject to County Council appropriations)
Green Grants applicants can propose small-scale innovative environmental initiatives or demonstration projects that may further the mission of EP&S including projects related to sustainability, environmental protection, natural resource protection, conservation and restoration.

EPS is currently developing legislation-based initiatives such as Mineral Only Sunscreen Maui County as well as the Green Grants Program.

County of Maui Legislation  
Ordinance No. 5306  bans the sale, distribution and use of non-mineral sunscreens without a prescription. Starting on October 1, 2022, only mineral sunscreens will be allowed in the County.

Ordinance No. 5236  prohibits the sale, rental and distribution of disposable bodyboards starting on August 1, 2022.

Dive into our first talk, "Nature-based Solutions for Coastal Erosion" to engage with experts and community leaders and to learn about the tools and solutions local communities have used to enhance coastal resilience.  See flyer for more information.
