Mayor Victorino releases statement on latest COVID-19 related death in Maui County

Mayor Michael Victorino released the following statement on the most recent COVID-19-related death in Maui County:

"The State Department of Health has confirmed a fourth death related to COVID-19 in Maui County. Joycelyn and I extend our sincere condolences to the family and friends of the patient and ask our Maui County `ohana to provide support during this difficult time.

The state DOH reports that the individual was an adult male from Washington state in the 40-59-year age group who had a history of travel and no previous medical conditions. He had been hospitalized for an extended period in serious condition at Maui Memorial Medical Center.

Every life lost in this pandemic is heartbreaking. I continue to ask everyone in Maui County and across our state to protect each other against the spread of this disease through social distancing and staying home for all but essential activities."
