Improvements announced for Paia Park outdoor basketball court

The outdoor basketball court at Paia Park will undergo repair and renovation work beginning Feb. 1, 2021, the Department of Parks and Recreation announced. The work will require the temporary closure of the basketball court until the project’s completion in early March.

The outdoor basketball court at Paia Park is adjacent to the Alfred “Flako” Boteilho Sr. Gymnasium at 640 Baldwin Ave.

Work by construction contractor Central Construction will include asphalt and concrete repair, acrylic resurfacing, striping of basketball courts, removal and replacement of existing backboards and posts, removal of overgrown vegetation, installation new chain link fence and new ADA accessible walkways.

The public is asked to stay away from construction areas as a safety precaution.

Any questions or concerns may be addressed to Robert Agapay, Parks Project Coordinator, at robert.agapay@co.maui.hi.us or 270-7406.
