Hawaiian Electric restored power to a majority of customers on Maui around 10:15 a.m. today after an estimated 65,000 customers in various parts of the island experienced an outage around 2:45 a.m. this morning.
Crews are currently working to restore approximately 100 remaining customers in Central Maui and pockets of Upcountry and Haiku.
HECO is assessing the cause of the power outage.
If customers are still experiencing an outage, they are asked to reset their home breaker or contact the Hawaiian Electric Maui County Trouble Line at (808) 871-7777.
Mayor Michael Victorino said: “Mahalo to all the dedicated and hardworking HECO repair crews and support staff for restoring power to Maui island as soon as possible. I also thank our Maui residents for their patience and courtesy as, together, we got through this disruption in our lives. We look forward to the return of full service to customers in Central Maui and pockets of residents Upcountry and in Haiku.”
