PURSUANT TO CHAPTER 103D, HRS, SEALED PROPOSALS for KALANA O MAUI BOOSTER PUMP INSTALL, JOB NO. 09-13 shall be received and time stamped by the Bid Receiver, Purchasing Division, Department of Finance, up to 2:00 o'clock p.m. on THURSDAY, AUGUST 13, 2009 at which time and place the sealed proposals will be publicly opened and read out loud.

This project involves the replacement of the Kalana O Maui Building’s existing booster pumps to compensate for a pressure drop caused by installation of a new backflow preventer.

Plans and specifications may be examined at said office and borrowed at the Division of Purchasing, Department of Finance, County of Maui, Wells Street Professional Center, 2145 Wells Street, Suite 104, Wailuku, Maui, Hawaii 96793. Borrowed plans and specifications shall be returned intact and in good condition within 30 days after the bid opening date.

The County of Maui, in accordance with the provisions of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 (78 Stat. 252) and the Regulations of the U.S. Department of Transportation (Title 49, Part 21) issued pursuant to such Act, hereby notifies all bidders that it will affirmatively insure that the contract entered into pursuant to this advertisement will be awarded to the lowest responsible bidder without discrimination on the grounds of race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, or disability.

The Equal Employment Opportunity Regulations of the Secretary of Labor implementing Executive Order 11246 shall be complied with on this project.

Each proposal shall be on a form furnished by the Department of Public Works, County of Maui. The proposal guaranty shall be equal to at least five percent (5%) of the total amount of the bid submitted.

The Department of Finance reserves the right to reject any or all proposals and to waive any defects in said proposals for the best interest of the public.

Estimated replacement costs are between $50,000 - $100,000.
