NOTICE TO BIDDERS

SEALED BIDS for the construction of ULUNIU ROAD AND EWA PLACE WATERLINE REPLACEMENT, JOB NO. 10-13, KIHEI, ISLAND OF MAUI, STATE OF HAWAII, will be received by the Director of the Department of Water Supply, Kalana O Maui Building, 5^th floor, 200 South High Street, Wailuku, Maui, Hawaii 96793, until 2:00 P.M. ON SEPTEMBER 1, 2011, at which time and place sealed bids will be publicly opened and read aloud.

The project involves furnishing all labor, tools, materials, and equipment necessary to construct approximately 2,700 linear feet of 12, 8, and 6-inch ductile iron pipe to replace an existing waterline on Waipuilani Road, Uluniu Road, and Ewa Place.  Work includes installation of fire hydrant connections, transfer of water laterals, connections to branch distribution lines, removal of existing standpipes and valves, and roadway restoration.

Bid documents may be purchased from the Engineering Division of said department at a cost of THIRTY DOLLARS ($30.00) PER SET.  A compact disk (CD) containing the bid documents can also be purchased for an additional TEN DOLLARS ($10.00).  There will be no refund for these bid documents once they are purchased.  Payment shall be in the form of cash, check or money order payable to "Department of Water Supply".

A pre-bid conference and tour of the project site has been scheduled for 10:00 A.M. ON AUGUST 10, 2011. Bidders are not required to attend.  Bidders shall meet at the Department of Water Supply’s Engineering Division, 5^th floor of the Kalana O Maui Building, 200 S. High Street, Wailuku, Maui, Hawaii.  Bidders intending to attend this pre-bid conference are requested to call 270-7835 and inform the Department of Water Supply of their intent to attend the conference at least seven (7) days prior to the date of the pre-bid conference.

To be eligible to bid, bidders must possess a valid State of Hawaii General Engineering  Contractor's “A” license.

Bids must be accompanied by an acceptable form of bid security in an amount not less than five percent (5%) of the amount of the base bid, including additives, payable to the "County of Maui" and in compliance with Section 103D-323, Hawaii Revised Statutes, as amended.
